Windows Phone

Windows Phone Current Version: The current version of Windows Phone as of the date of this posting is 7.10.7720 (which is called the 7.5 Mango release)

Windows Phone Design: The design concept used for the Windows Phone OS is based on Microsoft's METRO design language that is based on typography. The name metro comes from some influence from the signs of the public transit system in King County, close to Microsoft's Redmond headquarters. The Metro design is largely based elements from classic Swedish design. Windows Phone was not the first product to use these classic design concepts. Early glimpses of this design can be seen as far back as Encarta 95. Recently, Zune and Media Center both have been influenced by this design concept.

Windows Phone Partners: Windows Phone current has a number of valued partners, but the partners we want to call out in the post are the partners who are betting the farm on the Windows Phone Platform. First and foremost that comes to mind is Finland's Nokia. Nokia currently has the largest share of the mobile phone market according to different reports. However, Nokia's Symbian OS platform has not been able to "keep up with the Jone's" and with ex-Microsoftie Stephen Elop coming aboard and CEO, Nokia has taken some bold strategical moves including removing Symbian from their smartphone lineup. Windows Phone will be the smartphone for Nokia moving forward.
